Yoni Cleansing Via Steam

Yoni Steaming: Why You Would Want to and the Best Methods

What an intriguing and taboo topic this is! Yet, in reality, it's not all that taboo, is it? After all, about half of the population has a Yoni, so discussing its health, nature, capabilities, abstract tendencies, and overall care shouldn't be considered strange at all. For those who might be unfamiliar, let's be more direct, a Yoni is a vagina! But it's more than that; a Yoni encompasses the entirety of the womb space, comprising the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects that constitute a woman's reproductive system.

In Hinduism, Yoni holds a profound meaning as the gateway to all natural births, the source from which all life emanates. It also represents the goddess Shakti. Referring to a woman's vagina or reproductive aspects as "Yoni" carries a sacred and respectful connotation that many women prefer.

Now, who is this practice for, and why might you want to explore Yoni cleansing? Well, naturally, anyone with a Yoni qualifies, and I'm sure men would appreciate some steamy self-care for their sacred regions as well. However, it's particularly beneficial for those who experience various conditions, such as:

• PCOS • Painful periods • Uterine prolapse • Past sexual trauma • Bladder prolapse • Menstrual irregularities (light or heavy flow) • The need for self-love and a self-esteem boost • Pre/Post menopausal symptoms, including vaginal dryness and discomfort • Prevention and treatment of bacterial infections (e.g., yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis) • Postpartum healing • Having an emotionally challenging month • Eliminating odor • Enhancing vaginal lubrication • Preventing and addressing hemorrhoids • Dealing with endometriosis • Managing ovarian cysts • Addressing uterine fibroids • Healing scar tissue • Managing cervical polyps • Addressing fibroids • Coping with painful periods • Dealing with prolapse • Navigating miscarriage or abortion • Experiencing difficulties conceiving • Healing from womb trauma

In this article we are going to focus on Yoni Steaming in particular, however, it's essential to understand that Yoni steaming isn't suitable for everyone. Avoid this practice if:

• You are less than 38 weeks pregnant • Have an IUD • Have a severe yeast infection • Are trying to conceive, particularly right after ovulation • Have an active herpes infection • Are currently menstruating

Rest assured, Yoni steaming has been a cherished practice for thousands of years, benefiting Yoni health. It's a gentle act of self-love and self-care, intended to be both pleasurable and soul-nurturing, although it can evoke emotions, especially if you're new to womb health. If you meet the criteria above of avoiding this practice please refer to Herbal Oils and Salves for other methods of Yoni Cleansing.

Now, let's delve into the cleansing aspect of this wonderful Yoni practice!

Cleansing can take various forms, such as herbal oils, salves, or steaming. When selecting your cleansing method, it's crucial to consider the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of your journey. Among these, Yoni steaming is perhaps the most common and beloved.

As a woman, I must say that Yoni steaming is my preferred method of cleansing. Picture this: you select your favorite herbs, set the mood with soothing music and candles, practice deep breathing, and engage in a fantastic, sensorial experience. Allow me to guide you through it.

What You'll Need:

• Medicinal herbs • 1 large pot with a lid • 2 – 3 cups of fresh, filtered water • Towel, skirt, or cloth to cover and direct the steam • Journal and pen for post-steam integration

The setup can vary. Some prefer to stand over a pot of herbs, while others may sit on the edge of a surface, like a bed, with the pot positioned below to channel the steam up through the towel or skirt. For a more comfortable experience, I highly recommend investing in a steam stool. While it may require a modest financial commitment (typically ranging from $100 to $300), it offers an exceptional, wooden stool with a hole, designed specifically for this purpose. Alternatively, you can find a collapsible, BPA-free toilet insert for $20 to $30. Do note that, due to its smaller size, the steam may not last as long.

Now, let's explore herb selection. Below is a list of Yoni-friendly herbs, each recommended for various reasons. Keep in mind that Yoni steaming isn't limited to these herbs, but if you're just starting out, these suggestions are a great starting point:

Roses: • Softens and tones Yoni tissues • Supports uterus contraction and expansion • Reduces blood clots • Relieves stagnation and coldness • Balances blood flow and reduces painful cramps • Particularly beneficial for those with black or brown menstrual blood

Ginger: • Increases circulation • Invigorates the womb after abortion or miscarriage • Addresses hormonal contraceptive detox • Supports healthy menstrual flow (beneficial for amenorrhea - lack of flow - and dysmenorrhea - heavy and painful flow) • Grounds and invigorates the spirit with strength and passion

Rosemary: • Increases circulation • Encourages fresh blood flow to reproductive organs • Clears stagnation • Grounding and aids in clearing ancestral pains • Acts as an antidepressant

Lady’s Mantle:  • Nourishes and restores • Tones the uterus by tightening and contracting • Treats vaginal discharge (leukorrhea) • Suitable for sensitive women with pale skin and prominent, visible veins

Calendula: • Soothes irritated tissues • Ideal for sensitive vaginal tissue • Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial

Red Raspberry Leaf: • Antifungal • Suitable for minor yeast infections • Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory • Tones reproductive organs • Relieves menstrual cramps

Don Quai (angelica sinensis): • Balances hormones for the menstrual cycle

Yarrow: • Stimulates and sedates uterine muscles • Slows bleeding and is suitable for excessive bleeding • Useful for a delayed or absent menstrual cycle • Addresses menstrual cramps, ovarian cysts, and uterine fibroids • Antimicrobial and antiseptic properties help treat bacterial vaginosis (BV) and other infections

Basil: • Acts as a nerve tonic • Stimulates the uterus and cleanses mucus membranes

Burdock: • Deeply cleanses and restores tissues

Now that you've chosen your herbs based on your needs and desires, let's proceed to the steaming process.

Directions:

  1. Prepare 3 cups of boiling water in a large pot on the stove.
  2. Hold the herbs to your heart and womb, setting an intention for the ritual.
  3. Place the herbs intentionally in the pot and cover for 3-5 minutes. While you meditate, place one hand on your heart and the other on your womb.
  4. Position your pot on the ground in your sacred space.
  5. Cover your front and back with your two towels, ensuring that the steam is directed straight to your Yoni and pelvic area.
  6. Remove the lid of the pot and always check the steam's temperature by placing your hand over it first to avoid any burns. (VERY IMPORTANT OUCH)
  7. Test out some different positions to hold your Yoni over the steam for 5 to 30 minutes, with the duration varying according to your intention for steaming. During this time, breathe deeply and let your intention radiate throughout your body. Afterward, take the pot and deposit the used herbs outside as a sign of gratitude to the plants and the spirits that move through them.
  8. Allocate an additional 10 to 15 minutes for yourself to be alone in a sacred space, free from electronic distractions. This time can be used for journaling and integrating the teachings of the plants.

Feel free to perform Yoni steaming as frequently as you desire. Personally, I find it most beneficial after a challenging menstrual cycle or during emotionally difficult times when I seek to reclaim my power. This practice is profoundly empowering and nurturing for women, connecting them to a deep sense of self-love. If you're nervous about trying it alone, some spas offer "V steaming" services for you to explore this practice in a supported environment.

I trust you've found this article enlightening and inspiring as you embark on your journey toward self-health.
